DIY Your Online Store

Leverage your existing webpage or domain into an online marketplace, using Shopify. In this workshop, we will create your online store, learn how to manage and sell your products, and adjust inventory.

Shopify is a Canadian-built complete e-commerce solution that allows you to set up an online store to sell your goods. It lets you organize your products, customize your storefront, accept credit card payments, track and respond to orders — all with a few clicks of the mouse.

Chapter 1 : Exploring eCommerce + Set-up

In this chapter, we’ll explore the different types of e-Commerce platforms, determine if your business is ready for ecommerce and set-up a Shopify online store.

Chapter 2 : Themes + Customizing Your Theme

In this chapter, we’ll install the Supply theme, and set-up the visual look of your site including logos, fonts, and colours.

Chapter 3 : Products, Categories + Inventory

In this chapter, we’ll learn how to add products in 2 different ways, add product categories and maintain inventory.

Chapter 4 : Pages + Navigation

In this chapter, we will clarify your navigational map, add other non-product pages and set-up the menu structure of your store.

Chapter 5 : Understanding SEO + Traffic

In this chapter, we’ll discuss shop search engine optimization and simple steps you can take to add keywords and drive traffic to your site.

Chapter 6 : Next Step Notes

In this chapter, we’ll discuss adding analytic tools, pay-per-use advertising to drive traffic, and the Point of Sale system.
